A Pop Art starter worksheet using Onomatopoeia - inspired by Roy Lichtenstein.
To be used within Pop Art module and or/ illustration scheme of work.
Suitable for Years 7& 8.
Differentiate with example templates with words missing and resource sheets with simple logo drawings to draw from.
Cross curricular content opportunities with English.
**Easy pencil line drawing 10/15 min challenge using Onomatopoeia. **
Great to start off discussing the term - opening with Onomatopoeia on the board and pupils discussing examples, generating ideas.
A starter exercise template sheet which should be followed with a show and tell or peer assessment for NEXT STEP FEEDBACK OR EBI and WWW.
This then leads into a main drawing exercise where pupils develop their design with feedback into fully coloured piece. Colours to be inspired by Roy Lichtenstein Primary and Secondary solid colours.
Opportunity to reinstate learning on Lichtenstein pieces using Onomatopeia her i.e Whaam! 1963 Roy Lichtenstein.

To be taught in Pop Art or Illustration Scheme of Work for year groups 7-9.
The worksheet provides a grid framework for students to practice accuracy and observational drawing.
To help build confidence by breaking the image down into smaller, more digestible sections.
The grid method although not as quick as using a projector or transfer paper, does have the benefit of helping to improve students drawing and observational skills.

Guernica:Picasso, Pupils response to current news: 2 lessons, Theory and Collage Drawing Creative
A 2 part lesson based on Picasso’s Guernica painting.
Fits into War Art, Political Art, Mixed Media units of work.
Suitable for Art Key Stage 3 & 4 . Reflective, analysis and creative.
Students to first explore the work of Guernica by Picasso and self investigate the artwork, its context, imagery, purpose, expression, colour palette, etc using prompts on first worksheet and on-line information.
This analysing Guernica lesson forces reflection and thinking about the work.
Second lesson is a mixed media creative response to Picasso’s Guernica. Using found materials at home, they will create an A4 mixed media response to current events and imagery from Guernica (newspapers, printed on-line articles, then drawing on top).
I intend when school is back to normal to treasure these powerful pieces as a reflection of the moment we find ourselves in and hope that this can become a wider project.
Van Gogh's Starry Night - Part 1 Literacy: Write a short Poem , Part 2 Creative: Illustrated Poem
A 2 part Literacy and Creative mini project based on Van Gogh’s Starry Night painting.
Pupils should be familiar with The Starry Night. Fits into Impressionism, landscape, colour theory projects, Key Stage 3.
Linking cross curriculum and promoting literacy through Art, this 2/3 lesson project gives pupils the chance to respond creatively through word and image.
Part 1: Worksheet with examples of poems and songs inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Instructions on making a short Poem.
Part 2: Worksheets with examples of what an Illustrated poem is and instructions on how to create one.
This lesson could be split into 2 parts to get a better quality resolved final piece.
